The Transatlantic Heron

This video features an adventurous Green Heron which flew in from Central America (whether it came from Florida, Jamaica or Venezuela we do not know - it didn't pass immigration officials). The Transatlantic Heron landed in the wetlands of the Nieuwe Meer, the "Oeverlanden" near Amsterdam. It is not likely to mate because here, on our side of the ocean, it is one of a kind. Birdwatchers came from as far as the UK and Denmark to say hello. Quite unique.
